The Economic Developers Council of Ontario (EDCO) is holding its Spring Symposium in Sault Ste. Marie, ON. With a theme of Connecting the North and South, the two-day event will feature keynote presenters and learning/networking opportunities.
Day 1: CulturalEconomic Development - The iconic Group of Seven artists captured the rugged beauty of the Sault Ste. Marie area in the 1920s and 30s. Economic Development officials are now capitalizing on the brand by developing tourism offerings that focus on the Canadian painters. Symposium attendees will have an opportunity to see original paintings and learn how the community found success at marketing Group of Seven products to travellers around the world. The first day will be capped off with a gala dinner at the Machine Shop, an entertainment venue at the historic sandstone building that once housed St. Mary’s Paper.
Day 2: Professional Development - This is a full day of non-concurrent sessions with time for networking. Keynote speakers will present on a variety of topics, including P3, Project Management and Performance Measuring. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about these and other important issues in the world of economic development.
The Spring Symposium is eligible for points towards EDAC certification. There is a Porter Airlines and an Air Canada discount for this event.
